An original framed appliqué Textile Illustration by Textile Artist Cat Rowe.
This illustration depicts the view from a Falmouth window towards the Cornish fishing village of Flushing at high tide. Normally a busy thorough fare for boats and shipping Cat captures a quiet mooring between the two fishing towns. Using little snippets fabrics, old and new, from her collection each piece of fabric is lovingly choosen for its colour and pattern to create the different elements of the picture, from the natural earthy colours of the cottages to the bright bowl of lemons on the windowsill.
Inspired by the St.Ives school of painters Cat particularly loves spending time arranging her favorite pieces of ceramics, vases of flowers, and the odd piece of fruit on her friends windowsills. It's especially enjoyable with a freshly brewed cup of tea in hand!
The work is window mounted and box framed behind glass in a light Ash wood, final framed size 8 x 10 inches, (unmounted the piece of work measures 5x7 inches).
