One of several textile illustrations depicting the Isles of Scilly with flowering agapanthus in the foreground. This card has a sister, a view of Tresco from Bryher which depicts the quiet aqua waters between the two islands. A small dingy bobs gently in the warm haze of the summer sun.
Selecting the fabrics for each illustration is a very important part of the process. Fabrics are choosen for their pattern, colours and thread count. Cotton shirts were selected to represent the sea and the sky in this picture. The direction of the threads in the fabric suggests the water lapping up againt the small boat, which are enhanced by the added embroidery o the small waves.
