Day of the Dead Skulls - various colours

Hand made Day of the Dead skull brooches.

Each brooch is made from a white on white fabric with a subtle pattern which can be seen as the light catches it's surface. Every skull has a intricate black pattern stitched across it's forhead combining a small heart and has either two designs for the mouth. 

Inspired by the sugar skull of the Mexican Día de los Muertos celebrations which are held every November to honour the ancestors, each brooch has a pair of colourful sequin hand stitched for eyes, adding a touch of colour. 

It is made using cotton fabrics and stitched using the free machine embroidery technique. It has a stiff interfacing which holds its shape and makes it easy to wear.

It is finished on the back with a black and purple bat themed fabric and a 1 inch bar brooch. 

It is just shy of 3 inches (7cm) high and just under 2 inches wide (4.5cm).
