Sketch Book

My entries in my Journals and sketchbooks form the basis of my inspiration for my all my creative work whether I'm working on a big project and need to jot or sketch down ideas, or as a pocket book to accompany me on a walk or jaunt into town to doodle in or stick in found treasures. I use them for note taking, reminding me of a line of poetry that I've read, or lyric I've heard on the radio. I feel very lost without a notebook to just get down a simple reminder of an event, take an observational sketch, or as a place to leave my worries.

I must have tens of books all with their different functions and purposes, each as bulging as the next. They are an arena in which to play, create multitudes of combinations of colours, textures, patterns, words, images, thoughts and expressions.

The appeal of sketchbooks is the personal insight they give into the mind of the artist, just as a signature indicates character, specific to each individual, so sketchbooks indicate the working methods, thought processes, evidence of playing and influences of that one artist.
